
This scheme involved the complete refurbishment of a wing of Ashgrove School, a special needs school in Penarth.
The wing was previously a therapy pool and changing rooms, and was fully refurbished into 3 classrooms, 8 quiet rooms, 5 toilets (1 disabled) and 2 shower rooms, wheelchair store, 2 cleaning cupboards, 1 stationary cupboard, IT room, Electrical room/ gas room and 1 wet / games area. Scheme also involved a complete rewire of the buildings and a new central heating system.
External works included new fascias and soffit and flat roof, a new disabled ramp and footpath. The area around the building was rotavated and seeded.
All finishes were designed to take into account the special needs of the students:-
- Specialist light switches
- Fire Alarms
- Padded rooms
- Infra Red System
- Steel sanitary ware
The school was a live site, although this wing remained unoccupied throughout the works. This particular school building was unoccupied for the past 4 years.
