This project involves the relocation of registrar services into the municipal buildings, Pontypridd. This is a 2 storey and basement grade II listed building that was built in the mid 19th Century to act as an important council building which includes the Council Chamber and Lord Mayors Parlour.
Works on this grade II listed building included -
External
External cleaning, repointing and remedial works to stonework and glazed bricks. Reroofing of Ashphalt Roof / Repair to existing leaded and stained glass windows, repair and replacement of Rain water good.
Internal
Hacking off and replacement of lime plaster, damproofing to basement, strip out and replace mechanical, plumbing and electrical, including air conditioning of IT etc. Repairs to joinery demolition and alterations. Lift installations, finishes and decorations also dry rot and wood worm and water penetration.
Works were performed in the tight town centre location, surrounded by main roads and with a major bus route on both sites of the building.. Traffic management plans were developed, including travel plans for the labour force and subcontractors and restricted delivery and distribution times of materials were in place. We had to accommodate major scaffolding and consideration for the safety of the public was at the forefront of all decision making. .
